Piercing Aftercare Instructions

Congratulations, you rocked your new piercing! Let's keep it clean and healing perfectly with proper Piercing Aftercare.

Essential Aftercare Items

1. NeilMed Saline Solution (Fine Mist Piercing Aftercare only) 
2. Donut Piercing Pillow (Highly recommended for cartilage piercings; available on Amazon)

Lobe Piercing Aftercare 
Total Healing Time: Approximately 3 months.

Initial Weeks 1–2:

• Spray NeilMed saline once daily on both the front and back of your piercing.
  

Week 3 onward:

• Spray every other day.
• Once weekly - after showering, gently clean around your piercing with saline on a clean Q-tip to remove any crusting/ build-up

Cartilage Piercing Aftercare Total Healing Time: 10 months or more.

• Follow THE SAME cleaning instructions as for lobe piercings.
• Ear Spa Service (Highly Recommended)
  We strongly recommend booking an Ear Spa service approximately 12 weeks after your initial piercing. During this visit, our piercer will thoroughly check your piercing, If advised, carefully remove your earring for cleaning, and perform a gentle partial downsize (not a full downsize). Normal Healing Signs:

• Mild redness, soreness, and clear or yellowish crusting.

General Aftercare DO's

• Clean piercing with Neilmed saline solution as directed.
• Maintain good nutrition and rest.
• Be careful taking sweaters or clothing over your ears/head.
• Be cautious with phones, headphones, or hats near your piercing.
• Use a piercing pillow, especially with cartilage piercings.
• If needed, gently dry your piercing with a hair dryer set to LOW after showering and saline spray.

General Aftercare DON’Ts

• Avoid twisting, turning, or snagging jewelry.
• Do not use alcohol, peroxide, or ointments.
• Avoid swimming in pools, lakes, hot springs, or hot tubs for at least 3 weeks.
• Do not sleep directly on the piercing.
• Avoid beauty products near your piercing.

Downsizing Instructions

Your piercing was initially performed with a longer post to accommodate swelling..

• Lobe Piercings: Downsize at about 3 months.
• Cartilage Piercings: Wait at least 9 months or until fully healed before downsizing.
  

Why Downsizing is Important:

• Comfort: Reduces excessive movement and irritation.
• Healing: Prevents complications and bumps.
• Aesthetics: Provides a snug and appealing look.
  

During the Downsizing Appointment:

• Our piercer will assess healing progress.
• Jewelry posts will be swapped for shorter, snug-fitting ones.
• Appointment duration: approximately 10-15 minutes.
• Additional piercings can be done at this time.
