A piercing can look healed on the outside before the channel inside is fully healed.
Changing jewelry too early can irritate the piercing, introduce trauma or make reinsertion difficult. If you are unsure whether your piercing is ready, do not remove the jewelry at home first.
Come in with the jewelry still installed and let our team evaluate it.

Can You Change Jewelry I Bought Somewhere Else?
For healed piercings, you may bring outside jewelry for us to evaluate before installation.
What do you check before installing outside jewelry?
We may need to review the material, gauge, post length, threading or threadless compatibility, condition, construction and suitability for your placement. We cannot guarantee that outside jewelry will be appropriate or installable.
What if the jewelry is not suitable?
We'll explain what is preventing a safe or appropriate fit and can help you find another option from Nina Wynn's piercing jewelry selection.
Can outside jewelry be used for a new piercing?
No. For a new piercing, Nina Wynn uses jewelry selected through our studio so our piercers can confirm material, construction, sizing, fit and sterilization.

Can you change my flat back earrings for me?
Yes. Visit a Nina Wynn studio when you need help removing or installing compatible flat-back piercing jewelry.
Can you remove a flat back earring that I can't get out?
Yes. If you're struggling to remove piercing jewelry, avoid repeatedly pulling or twisting it. Bring it in so we can evaluate the jewelry and piercing before attempting removal.
Can I bring jewelry purchased somewhere else?
For healed piercings, you may bring outside jewelry for evaluation. Installation depends on its material, condition, dimensions, construction and compatibility with your piercing.
Can you use my jewelry for a new piercing?
No. Outside jewelry is not used for new piercings because the studio needs to confirm all of the factors required for appropriate initial piercing jewelry.
How much does a piercing jewelry change cost?
The jewelry change service has a $25 minimum. Installation of Nina Wynn jewelry is $18 per piece. New jewelry is purchased separately.
Can you change cartilage earrings?
Yes, we can assist with jewelry changes for healed cartilage piercings when the jewelry and piercing are suitable for changing.
What if my piercing isn't healed yet?
Do not remove the jewelry before your visit. Depending on the healing stage and fit, you may need a professional downsize or piercing evaluation rather than a decorative jewelry change.
Do I need to know my earring gauge or post length?
No. If you're unsure, bring your current jewelry and we can help determine what you're wearing and what may fit appropriately.
Can I change several earrings during one visit?
Yes. Bring all jewelry you'd like us to evaluate and choose the studio/service option that allows enough time for the number of pieces you need changed.
What's the difference between jewelry shopping and a jewelry-change appointment?
Jewelry shopping is for browsing and styling. Choose Jewelry Change when you need jewelry physically removed or installed.
