About the Stone
Amethyst
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz. Its color can be uneven within a crystal, with lighter and darker zones, so the cutter’s choices influence how a finished stone looks from the front. It is a different material from purple sapphire or purple spinel, even when photographs show a similar shade.
Care: Use lukewarm water, a little mild soap, and gentle cleaning with a soft cloth or very soft brush if the setting permits. Rinse carefully and dry with a lint-free cloth.
