About the Stone
Hematite
Hematite is an iron oxide mineral. It occurs in several forms, from metallic-looking gray material to earthy reddish material. Its reddish streak is a mineralogical identification feature, but a streak test is destructive and should not be performed on finished jewelry.
Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear. If a small area needs cleaning and the construction permits, use a lightly damp cloth and dry it promptly. Avoid prolonged soaking, steam, ultrasonic cleaners, chemical dips, abrasives, and metal polishing products on the beads, especially when a finish or coating is uncertain.
