About the Stone

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis lazuli is a rock made from several minerals, commonly including blue lazurite, white calcite, and brassy pyrite. The proportions vary, so one piece can look more uniform while another has obvious contrasting areas. The small gold-colored flecks are usually pyrite, not precious gold.

Care: Wipe with a soft cloth after wear. If the piece’s treatment and construction permit, use brief gentle cleaning with lukewarm mild soapy water and dry promptly. Avoid soaking, steam, ultrasonic cleaners, acids, solvents, abrasive products, and high heat. These can affect constituent minerals or treatments.
